DIY West Elm Sphere

Sphere-2After reading the YHL book about 5 times through, I’ve started to focus in on the areas that I could easily (and cheaply- if that’s a word) transform our apartment into the rustic, earthy tones I love. One area is specifically the decorative objects I lack. It’s hard for me to reason spending money on something that does not serve a purpose other than simply to be pretty. So when I stumbled across this incredibly easy and cheap West Elm knock-off DIY project, I pounced on it. The two embroidery hoops cost a whopping $2.20 and the stain came in under $5 making this project around $7 (side note: I actually had stain and could have made this project for less than $3 but a girl needs variety with her woods, amiright??). Once I popped out the inner-hoops and fiddled around with how the final sphere would look (pre-stain) I decided they stuck together pretty well and I liked it without the tacks (plus I didn’t have any laying around). I love the final product! Such an easy way to dress up the YHL book on our windowsill.
